TECHNIQUES
I have a toolbox of different techniques that I can use to help you get to where you want to be. The combination depends on what you want to achieve as we are all unique and deserve a tailor-made approach. Some of the techniques I use are described below. Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis for therapeutic purposes where I will guide you into a trance state. This is an altered state of awareness where your subconscious mind can be accessed to bring about positive change. It feels similar to being totally engrossed in a TV programme while at the same time being vaguely aware of a conversation in the background. You remain in control at all times, and I cannot make you do anything against your will. Best of all, it's wonderfully relaxing.
Hypnotherapy is used for a variety of problems and challenges which stem from the emotions such as stress, depression, fears, lack of confidence etc. and is a tried and trusted means of dealing with bad habits such as smoking and nail biting. It can also be used to manage pain, and ease the symptoms associated with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, eczema. etc. amongst other things.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
NLP is sometimes described as a user's manual for the brain.
It's a form of applied psychology and focuses on the mind (Neuro), how we communicate our experiences (Linguistic) and how we combine the two elements (Programming) to shape our perceptions and behaviour.
Just like a computer, our thought processes can become outdated or just don't work as well as they could and perhaps the best way to explain NLP is to liken it to a software upgrade for the mind. NLP techniques can be used to bring about rapid change and perhaps the best known of these is the Fast Phobia Cure.
NLP can be used on its own or in combination with hypnotherapy.
Coaching
One of the cornerstones of coaching is asking powerful questions that invite introspection and lead to greater insight and creativity. Your responses may lead to a breakthrough, or may lead to more questioning. There may be specific areas that you want to work on - career change, health, relationships, money, spirituality, self-esteem etc - but you may just feel that you aren't getting the most out of life. Together we will make a plan of action and accountability. What I don't do is give you the answers, but coach you so you can discover them for yourself.
